How to take back your power|How to be soley responsible for your life

Hello you, responsible person, you action taker, you accountable human being, you amendable citizen, you POWERFUL life liver.

Welcome to the most important lesson & article of your life( ohhh… That’s so dramatic) but this article is pretty important, trust me.

πŸ¦‹ WHAT DOES BEING RESPONSIBLE MEANβ“πŸ¦‹

Being responsible means being capable of responding to any reasonable claim. It means being reliable, trustworthy and accountable. I’m not talking about being responsible for just anything, I’m talking about being responsible for your life.

Primarily, I mean being in control of your own life and not letting your circumstances tear you down. It means making your own decisions and being ready to face the music if things go south. It means acknowledging that life is happening for you not to you.

πŸ¦‹ HOW TO BECOME RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LIFEπŸ¦‹

It is super easy to fall victim to life and it’s challenges. It’s so easy to feel trapped in your own life, to feel suffocated and to feel like there’s no way out. To feel so unhappy and empty to an extent that you forget how happiness feels like. Trust me, we’ve all been there.

The very first thing to do is to see things as they are. Take off your blinder and allow yourself to see life in a new light. In a free kind of way, free of self-pity or ” I would be successful if my parents had raised me correctly” or “I can’t be an actress because the industry doesn’t favour people of colour.” Taking responsibility of your life is all about being your own hero and saving yourself from a miserable life.

Taking responsibility is about understanding that this is your life and yours only and that you can live it however you please( although parents make that extremely hard to do or understand). It is about putting yourself first and knowing that you are in charge of your life. To help you with that I’d like to introduce to you FLIPPING THE POWER DYNAMIC TECHNIQUE.

πŸ¦‹ FLIPPING THE POWER DYNAMIC πŸ¦‹

I learnt about flipping the power dynamic on a video about beauty pageants ( that is something I wanted to do until I grew up and saw the real the world and the real “beauty pageants”). Basically the flipping the power technique encourages beauty pageant contestants to answer the questions in the questions’ round honestly without thinking about what the judges or the audience will think about them. It encourages them to not say what they think the judges will want to hear or say something because they want to “impress” the judges. It encourages them to speak their truth by realising that they’re the ones standing on the floor and that the microphone is in their hands.

This technique is very applicable to our daily lives. We’re like the beauty pageant contestants, we’re trying to impress people in our lives. We shield our true selves and put on a mask because we don’t wanna disappoint anybody, especially our parents. We let our true, authentic selves take the backseat. We fail to see that the stage is ours, we’re the ones standing & we’re the ones with the microphone. This is your life & you’re 100% responsible for it.

Take back your power and take back your life. Don’t let circumstances, parents, peers, politics or society run your life for you. You are the CEO of your life, you are the main character of this story, you are the captain of this ship, you are the pilot of this plane, you are the driver of your life.

Thank you for granting me this opportunity to express myself. Always remember to grant yourself permission to do so as well.
