
I need to incorporate these habits in my daily life now more than ever to keep me from spiraling into depression. These habits have carried me through the most difficult times in my life and they continue to keep me sane everyday.
1. Getting out of bed :
This habit might sound totally absurd to other people but those who know, know. Some days getting out of bed is the biggest struggle of the day. And on those days it’s okay to stay in bed just a little longer than normal but what’s not okay is staying in bed the whole day.
2. Prepping For The Day :
After getting out of bed, you have to get yourself ready for the day. Get up, make your bed, shower, brush your teeth and basically do everything to make yourself look decent.
2. Journaling :
Journaling is the one thing that keeps me sane through everything in life. I sometimes dread journaling but I always feel better afterwards. It’s so therapeutic. You get your thoughts on paper, you separate yourself from your thoughts and you just feel relieved after that.
3. Working Out :
I know this is probably the last thing that you want to do. Good news, you don’t have to do anything crazy here or anything that you don’t want to do. Nowadays I’m working out for my mental health, to keep my stress levels in check and to prevent myself from going crazy.
Do workouts that you enjoy doing. Try to find workouts that you enjoy if you don’t know what you enjoy yet. Don’t go all crazy, take small steps daily.
4. Praying :
Praying never fails to make me feel better. Praying takes my stress off things and leaves me feeling warm inside. It reminds me that God is in control and that I’m not alone. It gives me hope that everything will be okay.
6. Dancing :
I perform a concert to my imaginary millions of fans every evening in my room. I dance and sing and just perform. I take my hairbrush, pick a song that resonates with me in that moment and let the music lead me. It’s a lot of fun.
7. Laughter :
Starting to watch funny skits and stand up comedy videos on YouTube on a daily basis is one of the best habits I have created. Not only did it improve my sense of humor but it also started taking things more lightly which means less stress and more happiness.
