Exercising, fun… Haha!! I know it’s a total oxymoron right??
Making exercising fun?? That is quite a bold statement and I get it if you have a hard time believing if that is even remotely possible. As the saying goes “soup is not only made in the kitchen.” If you know what I mean.
I hate long introductions so without further ado here are 8 ways to make exercising fun. Fun being not hating every single thing about your workout. Here we go :
1. Purchasing new workout gear :

I don’t care how materialistic you don’t think you are but this tip works like a charm.
Something about a new workout outfit makes me feel good, which makes me want to wear it, which makes me want to workout out while feeling good wearing it. So go on girlfriend, go get yourself those pair of Lululemon leggings that you have been longing. Go get that yoga mat. Even something as small as new resistant bands can make you excited to workout, making your workouts fun.
2. Music :
Music makes everything fun, literally everything. Something as boring as watching paint dry can turn into a exciting and interesting task with the right music.
“Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence.”
Create a workout playlist that screams fun. Or you can totally find something on Spotify.
3. Spice things up :
Old is boring.
Spice things up. Try something out of routine. Do something that you wouldn’t normally do. Try a new yoga pose or find a new workout or find a new workout venue. Do something out of the ordinary.
4. Find workout buddies :

Friends are angels that lift us up when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly. Workout buddies are angels who we struggle to walk with after leg day. They lift with us and eat peanut butter with us straight from the jar but most importantly they make working out enjoyable.
Find people with common health goals as you and those are your people. They will make working out more fun. It’s even better if those people are your friends because everything is fun with your friends.
5. Find your jam :
There are pilates people, cardio bunnies, yogis, weight lifters, runners and so forth. Which one are you??
Working out does not mean one thing. There is no one way or right way to exercise. Find what you like. Find something that makes you want to get out of bed, if you are not there yet. At least find something that you don’t hate that much.
Workouts that get me out of bed are musical HIIT workouts. They are so good and they me feel so good and of course Emily from EmkFit is my favourite fitness Queen. She also happens to be my workout buddy. I know how sad, my workout buddy is a YouTuber.
6. Challenge yourself :
Doing the same old routine over and over again is so boring. Once you feel like you have the hang of something and it feels easy. Take it up a notch.
I know challenging yourself seems like the opposite of fun but hear me out here. If you challenge yourself, you are going to be stronger. When you are stronger you are going to be happy. Working out happy makes everything enjoyable.
6. Set a goal & achieve it :
Find a unique fitness goal that speaks to your heart and set out to achieve it. By fitness goal I don’t mean lose 5 kg in a week. I mean set a performance goal. Like being able to do 20 push ups or 100 burpees. You see where I am going with this.
7. Change your workout mindset :

Working out is not a punishment to your body for what you have eaten. Working out is not a chore that you do to burn calories.
Working out is a celebration of what your body is capable of. It is a pure act of self-love.
Working out doesn’t have to suck. At least with this advice I have provided. Take what you want and leave out anything that doesn’t apply to you.
