5 Things That Keep You Awake At Night :

Not being able to sleep can be a consequence of things that you do in your day.

We are well aware of things that we do throughout the day or near bedtime that cost us our sleep yet we continue to do them. Today will be a gentle reminder of those things.

1. Eating before bed :

Eating before bed especially eating a heavy meal is a sure way to guarantee that you will be extremely uncomfortable cause your belly is full. Full of food that you should have eaten hours ago thus you won’t be able to sleep.

2. Drinking water before bed :

That not so good moment when you have to pee but you’re already cosy in bed.

We are all familiar with that not so good moment. Of course getting up and getting out of your snuggly bed to pee is going to disrupt your sleep.

If you’ve never been rudely woken up by a full bladder in the middle of the night. Go to pee and never be able to go back to sleep again. If that has never happened to you, you don’t know what real pain is.

You all know I’m a big advocate of drinking water but drinking water before bed is a total no no.

3. Caffeine :

As I’m saying caffeine in my head, I just thought about how South Africans pronounce it vs how Americans pronounce it.

Anyways, we all know how badly caffeine affects our sleep but yet we still consume it, said the biggest coffee addict ever. I’m kidding I’m not addicted to coffee, I can stop drinking it anytime I just choose not to.

Do not quit coffee unless you wanna do that, which I will never fully understand why somebody would purposely do that.

Caffeine stays in our blood for a long time that is why we shouldn’t consume any caffeinated beverages at least 6 hours before bed. Make sure to drink your fifth cup of coffee at least 6 hours before your bedtime.

4. Screens :

Using electronic devices before bed may be seriously costing you your precious sleep.

The blue light emitted by your cellphone or other devices restrains the production of melatonin. The hormone that controls your sleep-wake cyle therefore making it difficult to fall asleep and to wake up the following day.

You know what’s funny?? The fact that you already knew this but yet, here you are. You are reading this article in bed.

5. Stress :

“Falling asleep is less about getting the body comfortable and more about getting the mind comfortable.”

Well said Unknown, well said.

How do you expect yourself to fall asleep when you are busy thinking about your ex.

Wondering what he’s doing and with whom. Wondering if he still loves you. Wanting to get back together with him but then again, wondering if you really want that. I mean he was toxic so do you really want to go there again. But he’s so handsome and sweet (mostly) and you still have feelings for him.

A busy mind is not a comfortable one so you won’t be able to fall asleep. Create a routine to support your mental health and to prevent stress.

Journal, journal, journal. It will really help you. And oh… Don’t get back with your ex, you already know how that story will go.

So yes these are the things that may be keeping you up at night. These are things that you already know and things I already, it’s just a gentle reminder.

Take good care of your health and do not get back with your ex. I love you guys, bye💖.
