6 Best Books I Read This Year :

Don’t assume that you know these five books because I am sure that you will be shocked, totally shocked. I mean I was and still kinda am.

Out of all the books I read this year, these are the ones that I really connected with. Okay, it is extremely hard to choose my favourites but I’ll try my best. If I feel like there are still books that I didn’t do right by them I’ll make a part two, so sit back and enjoy :

6. Unbecoming to become by Ayanda Mangubane Borotho :

Reading this book was like receiving a huge warm hug. It was really amazing. My roommates will tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book and how I literally couldn’t put it down. It was really, really great.

It inspired me to take my own unbecoming journey. I took an audit of my life and I started asking myself, “How much of this was my idea??” I took a hard look at myself and my beliefs and worked on changing the beliefs that didn’t serve me anymore.

5. Nothing but the truth by John Kani :

I always heard about this book but I never really got to reading it until this year. This was the first fiction book that I read this year. Yes, at the beginning of the year I swore that I was done with fiction which is something that I want us to talk about soon.

Anyways this book has less than 80 pages so it’s a quick read.

4. Truth by Cassie James :

The spiral down reading “darker” books started with this one.

If you know me and you know this book, you wouldn’t believe that I read it. I mean I don’t believe it myself. There is nothing wrong about this book, it’s just not the type of book I’d usually read.

This book is about…

I can’t even put into words so I’ll just copy the description on Google. Ready??

“Truth or Dare?”

Four years ago, an innocent game led a group of friends into the woods for a night of debauchery.

Two weeks later, one of them was dead.

Now, Natalie Adams wants nothing more than to forget what happened that night – and everything that happened after.

This is one of those books that take you into a totally different world and you forget about your own world. It’s amazing.

3. The power of habit by Charles Duhigg :

Oh My God!!! To say I was obsessed with this book is an understatement. I ate and breathed this book while I was reading it. It was a breath of fresh air.

This book made me really want to become Research Psychologist. It was super interesting and it talking about a lot of intriguing topics. I learnt a lot and I had a lot of fun while doing it. I couldn’t shut up about this book and about all the things that I learnt from it.

2. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher :

This is the most recent book that I have read and no book seems interesting to me anymore.

There’s actually a series about this book. No. This book is about a series. The book covers season one of the series 13 reasons why and I kinda want to watch but I’m scared of how I will feel after watching it.

Anyways, thirteen reasons is about this high school kid, Clay. His classmate and crush committed suicide and two weeks later he finds a box with cassette tapes that were recorded by Hannah (the girl who committed suicide). In these tapes Hannah shares 13 stories involving 13 people that led to that current situation, her having committed suicide. Clay is one of the reasons why she committed suicide and we find out why.

1. One in three by Tess Stimson :

This is the best book that I have read in 2021.

I think I just also fell in love with the author of the book. I really, really, really enjoyed reading this book. It was extremely fascinating. It was extremely unpredictable, which I loved so much.

It had a lot of twists and turns and just, it was amazing!! If you read this book, you are going to be in for a wild ride.

Anyways, this book is basically about… Okay two women are found over a the murdered body of a man. The two women are the man’s current wife and ex-wife. They are both covered in blood, his blood. From there we work backwards to what happened before that incident. We are trying to find out, who killed him??

Those are six of the best books that I have read this year. I’d love to hear from you.

Would you kindly drop the best books that you have read this year??

As always guys I love you so much. Stay amazing and curious ❤️.

    • Tell me about it!! Nothing but the truth is so well written.

The book is about habits as the title suggests. The author gives us a new way of looking at our lives, that our lives are mostly made up of habits. He then goes on to teach us how to build habits that optimise our success.

What I love most about this book are the various studies and stories that he shares. They are so awesome.

      • The book is about rivalry between two brothers and forgiveness as well as how apartheid affected relationships of black people. Once you start reading this book I promise you’ll never get bored from start to finish also this book is educational that’s why department of education has introduced it at schools more especially in matric.
