You Cannot Do Everything :

This shattered my soul when I first heard it but I was like no, I can do everything because in theory it seemed like I can. I had no reason not to. I went on to fill my life with everything I ever wanted all at once. To make matters worse, I tried doing everything equally.

The dream is to be working extremely hard at work and getting promotions, while your side hustling is blooming and making a lot of money, you have many side projects going on, you have a blog and YouTube channel, you read a book every week, your house is clean, you are always on time, you cook everyday, you spend quality time with your family and friends, you spend time alone, you have an amazing girlfriend that you spend time with everyday. You of course have a productive morning routine where you wake up, drink water, workout for an hour, meditate for 30 minutes, write morning pages and drink a green smoothie. And you spend an hour watching Netflix to relax.

I wanted that to be my life.

But we cannot do everything because we are limited by our values and our energy.

What we value in life guides our decisions and informs the things we choose to spend time on. If you don’t value connection as much as you value health. You are not going to spend equal time looking for friends and going to the gym because one is obviously more important than the other to you.

What are your values??

What do you value in life?? What do you deem as important and what do you deem as not?? Spend most of your time doing what you feel is important to you.

To find out what your values are, I totally recommend this video : How to find your core values

Living in alignment with your values is blissful. That is when you know that you are truly living. When you spend you the things that you care about. Things that make you feel fulfilled and accomplished.

This is not say that you should stop doing things because they are not your values. You shouldn’t stop cleaning your house because it’s not your value.

Balance is a myth :

There is no such thing as balance. Having a balanced lifestyle, where you work as much as you play simply does not exist.

Amy Landino introduced this concept to me. She said that when you say that you want balance. It means that you’re trying to make everybody happy.

You are trying to make your employer impressed. You want them to know that you are hardworking, dependable, creative and innovative. On the other hand you want your family to feel like you are always there for them, you spend a lot of time with them, you genuinely care about them, you listen to them, you go on vacations with them and you truly love them.

Of course you can have these two things simultaneously in your life but add on top of that, time with friends (you also want to always be available for them), add taking care of your health by sleeping, working out, journalling and doing all those things.

You cannot show up equally for all these aspects of your life. It’s okay to spend more time with your children than you do with your friends. It’s okay to prioritize going to the gym and not spending an extra hour at work just because you want to be the last one to leave.

Quit trying to find balance and instead ask yourself what does your “balance” look like right now.

This is your life :

Whenever I find myself trying to cram as much as I can into one year I try to remind myself that. This is my life. Next year, this will still be my life. Ten years from now this is still going to be my life. I have a lifetime.

As I grow older my values are going to change and my schedule is going to change with them. That’s okay, I am human and I am constantly evolving.

In this chapter of my life, work is what I value. Working is my top priority. Maybe I’ll start valuing family and want to have my own in the upcoming years. There is no need to rush. You’ll still be in control of your life next year.

NB!!!

I am not saying that you cannot do everything because you totally can. You can be all of these women at the same time :

What I’m saying is that you cannot show up for every aspect of your life equally and that’s okay. Just be intentional of how much you’re showing in the different aspects of your life. Make sure that you’re showing up for the things that you care about.

Stay amazing and curious 💕.

  1. You absolutely right… trying to do everything yourself is a recipe for disaster but you manage everything that’s why there is deligation which means you get people who are the best at what you need to do and you focus on parts that you are also the best at…
