The Most Logical Way To Change Your Life :

It’s weird. We, as humans create situations and a life that confirms our beliefs. We choose the wrong people to date to prove that we are unlovable, we sabotage our success to prove that yeah, our third grade teacher was right, we’ll never amount to anything.

We spend our money recklessly till we don’t have enough money to pay rent to prove that we’ll always be poor. We constantly compare ourselves to other people to show ourselves that we are not enough.

We choose people who don’t choose us to prove that we are not important, that we will never be a priority.

We see the world as we are, not as it is.

People can have the exact same experience and interpret it in two different ways. We filter the world through our minds, choosing what exactly what we want to see.

The story you tell yourself about yourself and about your life is everything.

If you keeping telling yourself that you are bad at love and your relationships never last more than two minutes. That’s exactly what you’re going to get, two minute relationships and a confirmation that, yes… You are indeed Halsey.

I’m not telling you to listen to affirmations and to tell yourself in the mirror five times that you are rich. I am telling you to change your identity.

Changing your identity changes your life.

And it makes sense, it does. A fit girl who workouts everyday, drinks protein shakes, eats her peanut, recovers fully and enjoys that lifestyle doesn’t smoke two cigerates daily. That’s a given.

A straight A student doesn’t go partying everyday. I mean, when is she studying?? A self-respecting young woman doesn’t have friends that tear her apart every time she spends time with them.

There is a difference between a reader and a person who reads, a writer and a person who writes, a lover and a person who loves, an eater and a person who eats, a walker and a person who walks.

One person is doing the thing. While the other one is the thing. Being the thing is so much more powerful than doing the thing. Hence, less doing more being.

It’s easy to stop writing if you are not writer but it’s almost impossible to stop writing if you are a writer. We are so attached to our identities, that is why it’s so hard to change who we are.

Avuma doesn’t do that, Avuma doesn’t swear (ha!), Avuma is always early, Avuma is kind, Avuma is always happy, Avuma doesn’t procrastinate.

There so many things that I do because that’s who I am. I wake up early even on weekends because that’s who Avuma is. I complete all my homeworks on time because that’s who I am.

Instead of adopting the behaviour, adopt an identity that makes the behaviour easy and automatic. Don’t just shop, be a shopper.

Of course there’s a downside to this. There are also a lot of things that I don’t do because, well, Avuma doesn’t do that. The Avuma doesn’t do thing helps me adopt a healthy lifestyle and incorporate good habits fairly easy. However I cling onto my bad habits just as much as I am attached to my good habits.

But the good news is, it’s all up to you. It’s up to me to keep identifying with my bad habits. It’s up to me to change my identity.

If you read this post and you are nodding along but now you are like how the fuck (ha!) do I change my identity. I could write a post about that, let me know if that’s something that you want to see. (But knowing the type of person I am, I am probably going to write the post even if you don’t want to see it, that’s just who Avuma is)

I love you guys so much, to the moon and back always.❤️❤️
