Happy Pride Month y’all!!!!
In honour of this pride month I am going to do a queer books recommendation. I only started reading LGBTQ+ books last year. Since then I have across some of my favourite books that I will forever treasure in my heart and today I am going to share them with you.
This list is no particular order because I can’t do that.
1. If This Gets Out:

This was the first LGBTQ+ book I ever read and it will always have a special place in my heart. Not only because it was my first but also because it is one of my favourite books ever.
This book gave me the biggest book hangover ever. I cried a lot while and after reading this book. I really had a hard time living in a world where the characters didn’t exist. I have since struggled to find a book that made me feel the way this book did.
If This Gets Out is about a boy band with 4 members. We get to see the inside of the industry and the behind the scenes of fame.
The book is told through Zach and Ruben’s perspectives. We get to see as their friendship develops into something more. What I love most about this book is the character development. All the characters felt so real with so much depth. It was just perfect. Literally perfect.
As much as there is the romance aspect, there is also a lot going on with all of the characters and we get to watch them grow through their struggles. Them supporting each other and looking out for one another. The writing was also really good, the dialogue was funny and well-written. The book was giving wholesome series vibes. It was just the best. I need to stop myself now.
2. The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo:

I’m sure you’ve heard a lot about this book already. It is everywhere, everyone and their moms have read it. There’s a really good reason for that.
The story follows Evelyn Hugo, a retired Hollywood star who is now ready to pull back the curtains and spill juicy details about her life. She is talking to Monique, a journalist who is going to write her biography. Through her retelling, we get to see who Evelyn Hugo really is and the struggles she went through to get to that level of fame and success.
This book has a lot of plot twists. It is a rollercoaster of emotions. I think what helped me the most was that I didn’t know anything about the book prior reading it. All I knew was that Evelyn Hugo was talking to a journalist about her life. That really served me well. I did cry a couple of times while reading the book because of how much I was invested in the story and the characters. This book was really amazing, I should read more of Taylor Jenkins’s books. Any recommendations??
3. What’s In A Name:
This year hasn’t been good to me life wise and also book wise. In terms of I haven’t found a lot of exciting books. This book has been a light in my dull year.
This is my favourite romance novel, not just LGBT wise but everywhere wise.
I hadn’t seen this book anywhere before I read it. The book is short and it tells the stories of different couples so there isn’t a lot of room for character development and forming an emotional connection with the characters but somehow I still did. Yes, the writing was that good!
What I loved most about this book and what made me pick it up in the first place was the concept. Which is: The characters live in a world where soulmates exist. And one day on your birthday you wake up with the name of your soulmate tattooed on your skin. From there you just go and get them.
We follow multiple people and watch as they get their tattoos. Sometimes it’s easy finding their soulmate, sometimes it’s confusing and sometimes it seems damn right impossible. I love this book with all my heart and I know that you would too.
4. What If It’s Us:

This is the only series I have successfully read in my entire reading life. There were only two books in the series so I don’t know how much of an accomplishment that really is. I did just order another series so we’ll see how that goes.
In this story we follow Arthur and Ben as the universe tries to bring their worlds together. Will they end up together or is it simply just not meant to be??
That is all I have to say about the book. What is there to say, it’s Adam Silvera of course the book is going to be great and it’s co-authored by Becky Albertalli author of Simon vs Homo sapiens Agenda. I mean, it was destined for greatness.
5. Here’s To Us:

This is the sequel to What If It’s Us.
The series was great but it was kinda a clichè, as in you can predict exactly how the story is going to end. This is no surprise after all Adam Silvera did write a book and decided to title it, “They both die at the end.” However, I digress.
The journey to getting to the ending is worth it. I found myself rooting for the characters and being invested in their relationship.
My quote of the year actually came from this book. It goes: “If you want to be in the movie, go be in the movie.”
I can’t really explain the quote without spoiling the book but I’m sure you get the quote, right??
There you have it guys. My LGBTQ+ book recommendations. I think I am going to do a part 2 because this is so fun. I hope you enjoyed reading my book recommendations and my thoughts on said books.
Now tell me, have you read any of these books?? Are you planning to read any of them?? What are your favourite LGBTQ+ books??
Thank you so much for reading. I love you so much, Always. 🩷
